Plan healthcare before you need it
A little preparation makes a real difference in an emergency or a stressful moment.
- Check your insurance. Confirm which hospitals your policy covers, whether you need pre-authorisation and how claims are paid.
- Register in advance. Some hospitals let you create a patient record before you need treatment. Ask the hospital you would use.
- Save the numbers. Keep the hospital numbers, your insurer’s emergency line and your address in Kamala in your phone.
- Know your route. Drive to your chosen hospital once in daylight so the journey is familiar.
- Keep records together. Bring a summary of your medical history and medicines, ideally in English.
- Ask about medicines. If you take regular medication, check with your doctor and the hospital how to continue it in Thailand.
